2014 wedding’s go retro 1920′s

In 2014 our fabulous and unique wedding venue celebrates its bicentenary. So we have decided to take it back to an era that seems to have everyone captivated …the roaring 1920’s! If you really love vintage, you will have noticed that the 2014 “take” on a vintage wedding is hugely focused around this golden age!

From flappers to jazz bands, the roaring 20’s was an era to be admired. Here at  The Royal Pump Rooms, we thought we would share a little inspiration of what we think would look fabulous in this historic venue! If you are serious about offering the true 20’s experience, why not treat your guests to a tea lounge with sweet treats and fancies instead of canapés during your drinks reception? The Royal Pump Rooms’  Assembly Room was known as the tea lounge in the 1920’s, offering beverages and the town’s famous water! The South Annexe (as it was known in the 20’s – now more commonly known as the Conservatory) would be the perfect place to host your tea lounge after your ceremony in the grand assembly room!

Theming the smaller items of your day and focusing on the attention to detail often has a huge impact on the overall effect of the themed experience. Why not start as you mean to go on by sending out your invites in ant artdeco theme! And for the wedding day, vintage Manhattan coupe champagne glasses would be perfect for a champagne drinks reception in The Conservatory – very Gatsby! Alternating your linen with black and white can offer a huge visual impact at a very little cost and is very on-trend with the Art Deco colourscheme! Feathers were enormously popular in the 1920’s, however, they were more frequently used to make head bandsto go with a flappers’ outfit, rather than the table centre pieces they are more commonly seen on today; but again this is a great way to make a large visual impact on the room!
